Women need to be taught more ways to defend themselves in this crazy world. We deal with cat calls, and creepy men following us on the street. As a woman, I have come across one too many situations like this, and I want to share some self defense tips for all of the ladies in the world:

1) Prevention is key
First and foremost, prevention is always the number one tip to avoid this situation. Always be aware of your surroundings, try not to walk on the street late at night, and park in well lit areas are great preventative measures from shady situations happening. If you do all of the above and there is a dangerous threat at hand, here are some ways to defend yourself if you get into some trouble:
2) Make as much noise as possible
Unless you are under duress with a deadly weapon, do not be afraid to scream as loud as you possibly can. Cause a scene, do whatever you have to do to spook the attacker from going any further.
3) Take a class
Take a self defense class, such as boxing or kickboxing. Not only is this a great way to prepare for such attack, it is also a fabulous workout that burns a TON of calories. I always feel like Rocky Balboa every time I leave a class.
4) Fight back
With learning how to fight back, you will learn a ton of moves to combat any kind of threat. If you choose to partake in a kickboxing/boxing class, pay attention and practice as much as you can. The eyes, nose, neck, and knee are some good examples. It is also recommended to use your elbows, knees, and head.
When all else fails, make a run for it. If you are in a secluded area, do your best to find a well populated one. When you are safe, call 911 and report the incident ASAP.
