When the midday hunger hits and you’re looking for a healthy snack at work, try out this mango salsa! With a prep time of less than 10 minutes total, this salsa is perfect to make at home and bring on the go. Check out our breakdown of this recipe below for our #MunchiesMonday.
Our first step in this recipe is perhaps the most important: the mango! Dice up one whole mango and toss it in a big mixing bowl to start off this snack.
Afterwards, slice up ½ cup of cucumber to give the salsa an incredibly fresh taste.
OPTIONAL: For our spice lovers out there, I recommend mixing in one jalapeno pepper for some hot flavor.
Next in goes a ⅓ cup of diced onions. Try not to cry too much while slicing up this ingredient!
Afterwards, slice open a fresh lime and squeeze about a tablespoons worth of juice into the salsa. I personally like to use a lot of lime for a more refreshing taste, too, so don’t feel afraid to experiment a little bit also with your favorite tastes!
Up next are chopped basil leaves, which pair great with fresh lime. It’s easiest to cut the leaves up with kitchen scissors, but regular chopping knives work just as well!
Here’s another essential ingredient to this delicious salsa: ⅓ cup of diced red bell peppers. These peppers really pull the whole dish together and give it that traditional salsa taste, so make sure to not skip out on this step!
Now, squeeze some lemon in there to add another layer of tasty citrus to your dish.
If you’re looking for some additional flavor, add salt and pepper to your liking, and then stir all the ingredients together.
And you’re done with your salsa! Pair it with a multi-grain tortilla chip and you’ve got a tasty (and healthy!) snack for a week.
