The first step to every effective skin routine is a good cleanser. In the winter months (or even if you have dry skin all year round) you’ll want to stick with a cleanser that has a creamy and smoothing consistency. You don’t want to go for something that will strip your skin, such as bar soaps and some foaming cleansers. Try out some of our favorite cleansers:
Yes to Coconuts Ultra Hydrating Cleanser (10$, Walgreens)
This cleanser contains gentle cleansing agents and numerous skin beneficial, non-fragrant plant oils that dry skin will appreciate.
Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser (10$, Walgreens)
This product has won Best of Beauty and Readers’ Choice Awards more times then we can count, and there’s a reason dermatologists are constantly recommending it. It cleanses your skin without irritation and leaves it feeling ultra soft and smooth…yes please!
2. Exfoliate

We can’t stress enough how important it is to properly exfoliate. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells that clog our pores and reveal brighter, healthier looking skin that we know is under there! Whether it’s a DIY exfoliator, or a store-bought one, there are many that will do the trick, here are our favorites:
St. Ives Nourished & Smooth Oatmeal Scrub + Mask (8$, Walgreens)
This is a cult classic that never ceases to disappoint. It contains walnut shells that polish the skin, as well as honey and oats that help keep it hydrated.
Biore Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub (10$, Ulta)
This is an innovative powder that activates with water to gently exfoliate your skin. Its main ingredient is sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), which is excellent for removing dead skill cells and balancing the pH level of our skin.
3. Hydrate

Did you know that our skin is the largest organ in our body? So it’s crucial that we keep it hydrated to keep it from drying. What’s the easiest way to do this? Water, water, and more water! Without adequate water intake, skin can appear dull and uneven. Do yourself a favor and challenge yourself to drink 8 eight ounce glasses of water a day, and if you’re not a fan of plain H2O, try adding some different fruits for added flavor and antioxidants!
4. Mask it up
