With traveling, comes trying new, delicious dishes from all over the globe. Every part of the world has its own local dishes that are unique and flavorful. We’ve compiled a list of 20 of the most amazing international dishes that you have to try if you ever get the chance:
1. Asado.
This is an Argentinean barbecue meal. Trust us when we say that the flavors of this dish will be hard to forget! Asado consists of beef alongside various other meats which are cooked on an open fire. Meat from Argentina is world-famous, and is considered a speciality dish. You should feel privileged if someone makes you Asado in Argentina.
2. Nacatamales.
If you’re planning a trip to Granada, nacatamales is worth going out of your way to try. You may know them as tamales. It is mostly made with a corn-based dough wrapped in plantain leaves and traditionally cooked over a wood fire or steamed to perfection. You can find this dish in Nicaragua, where it is usually served on Sundays with fresh bread and coffee.
3. Ceviche.
Cuisine from Peru is extremely diverse and are beginning to become more popular in the United States. Ceviche is one example of incredible food in Peru. It is made from fresh fish or seafood, and marinated in citrus juice. The juice actually ‘cooks’ the protein in a process called curing. It is ‘cooked’ to perfection every time and well bring your taste buds to the next level.
4. Lechon.
Lechon is a dish from the Philippines, which is served mostly on special occasions. It is a whole pig slowly roasted over charcoal and it cooked similar to a rotisserie chicken. If you ever find yourself in the Philippines, lechon is a must-try.
5. Katong Laksa.
Katon Laska is a dish originally from Singapore and then made its way to China, Indonesia and Malaysia. It is a spicy noodle soup made from curry and coconut milk and served with various types of proteins.
6. Samgyetang.
Besides the famous Korean BBQ, there are other famous dishes worth trying in South Korea, and Samgyetang is quite possibly one of them. It is soup traditionally made with one whole chicken filled with garlic and rice. In South Korea, it is commonly eaten on hot summer days.
7. Chocolate Con Churros.
Long, freshly fried donuts, sprinkled with sugar and accompanied with melted chocolate is one of the best Spanish desserts. The dish should not be eaten every day but are perfect for the weekends and on lazy Sunday mornings.
8. Cheese Fondue.
Cheese fondue is a dish from Switzerland served in almost every restaurant in the country. It’s made of carefully chosen mixture of cheeses combined to create a unique taste, served in a communal pot.

Pad thai is a dish from Thailand which you can find anywhere within the country and is made with fried rice noodles, fish sauce, tofu, bean sprouts, shrimp and peanuts.
10. Holubtsi.
If you’re in the Ukraine, Holubtsi is a dish made of cabbage rolls stuffed with rice, meat and mushrooms. This dish is either baked, simmered or steamed in a covered pot accompanied by some type of sauce.
11. Mi Quang.
Mi Quang is a dish from Vietnam. It is a noodle-based dish very similar to ramen. The broth is made by simmering meat in water for a more intense flavor, seasoned with fish sauce, black pepper, shallots and garlic.
12. Tagine.
Tagine is a dish from Morocco. It is a stew that is cooked slowly in a special dome-shaped clay pot. It is traditionally made with spices, nuts and dried fruit for a sweet and sour combination.
13. Pozole.
Pozole is a classic Mexican soup made with hominy and chicken, seasoned and garnished with chile peppers, onions, garlic, radishes, avocado, cabbage and salsa. This dish is served as a celebratory dish including quinceaneras, weddings, birthdays, and New Year’s celebrations.
14. Cendol.
Cendol is originally a Malaysian dessert, but you can get this dish in many Southeast Asian countries. It is made of coconut milk, rice flour jelly with green food coloring, shaved ice and palm sugar.
15. Cicchetti.
This dish, originated in traditional Venetian bars in Italy. It is a meal that is made up of small snack and side dishes. Common Cicchetti items include small sandwiches, plates of olives, hard boiled eggs, seafood, meats and vegetables, placed on top of freshly made bread. Venice has many cicchetti bars where locals go in for a late morning, lunch or afternoon snack.
16. Soto.
In Indonesia, food varies a lot and almost every region has a signature dish. One of these popular recipes is Soto. It is a soup of broth, meat and vegetables. Soto ayam is the Indonesian equivalent to our chicken soup. It is considered their comfort food.
17. Masala Dosa.

19. Escargot.
Escargot is a French dish made from buttered snails, which is extremely popular and shockingly delicious. It is usually served as a starter dish.
20. Wat.
Wat is an Ethiopian stew served on top of injera, a large sourdough flatbread, made out of teff flour. No utensils needed here! In Ethiopia, they traditonally eat with their hands, using pieces of the injera to pick up bites of their meals.
